Welcome to the Agglomeration
Well it's been quite a while since I've posted last. I'm sure most of you have forgotten this blog ever existed. Regardless, here I am, posting Post Number 111. I haven't been writing creatively recently, in fact the last published poem was the last creative piece I've written this year. Quite sad for me, personally, because well that was always a bit of fun for me and a way for me to forget some of the stuff that was happening at that bothered me at the time. Probably quite good for you, my dear Reader, because you never really liked the poems anyway.
*This blog post is hereby interrupted for a brief tangent. SBS will return you to your scheduled programming shortly*
I'm working on a story now (well I will be pending the result of the to-be-mentioned poll), comment as to whether you want to see it on this blog. Yes, I know I'm facing a historical inevitability here, but I figured the likelihood of you surprising me is as good as me tossing a coin and having it land on tails so have at it, and if I am surprised at the result, I'll eat the book I'm currently reading and then go watch Blade Runner.
*The gradient of the tangent has been ascertained and the normal equation found. However SBS will not return you to your schedule programming because you were not watching SBS in the first place. Instead, here's more of my blog...*
So anyway, to fill the space here's seven of the most memorable things that have happened in the past arbitrary period of time I can remember, because I can't think of anything else to blog about, and the one person who wanted to see a revival post did not specify as to what he actually wanted to see. Very helpful indeed.
7. The Final Frontier Double Entendre
Last Tuesday was Founder's Concert. With a theme of 'Outer Space', I was preparing to be immensely disappointed. It turned out to be a fitting event that would most likely also be my last Founder's Concert, at least for a while. Quite sad, but hey there's still the Senior Farewell Concert where I'll have to be part of an orchestra accompanying our talented School Choir (perhaps minus one chime Sprakos) singing Mozart's Requiem in its entirety. Highlights of Founders included the Chamber Strings and Stanmore Strings making themselves look like fools by munching rosin like zombies in front of the entire audience, a very cool 'Mission to Mars' excerpt arrangement which was probably my favourite piece of the night, and a fun self-deprecating piece introduction.
6. Syllogism 1 - You're near a pond.
Syllogism 2 - You're in Africa
Conclusion - You're a arrogant overpaid hypocrite because I am utterly inept and cannot understand what a metaphor is.
Thursday before that was the Peter Singer ethics lecture on world poverty. I came in with incredibly high expectations and let's just say that it didn't live up to the hype. Too much product placement and not enough ethics meant that the entire ethos of the speech could be summarised in a 3 minute video. What's sad was that this 3 minute video was played, and that it was fantastic, and left me thinking, what if he had started with that video and gone on for the 42 minutes he had left from there... Ah well. We had Question Time, which was pretty much a bunch of arrogant ignorant bigots trying to call Singer a hypocritical failure of a human being (excluding the Newington questioners, naturally). Entertaining yet not what I was expecting, really. Oh well.
5. The Roald Dahl Incident
The following Thursday was Newington's English Poetry Reading Competition. Spent most of the day convincing Sprakos I was going to 'steal a poem from *his* poet* and he got very visibly upset. He was very relieved when I told him I was winding him up until he saw a Year 9 competitor read a Roald Dahl poem (albeit a different poem in a different division). Both Dahl readers came 2nd. Coincedence?
4. Try Thai Tri Thyme
The aforementioned three events meant that I had to stay behind after school on three separate occasions before these events. Naturally I required dinner. So made I three exodi to the side of Stanmore station yonder to a Thai restaurant. First night - great. Second night - had the same thing as first night - still good but you know, getting a bit repetitive. Third night - just saw there drinking glasses of water while watching my friends eat. Fun.
3. Triumph of the Previously Untriumphed
For most of you this will mean nothing. But this item is reserved for me celebrating the fact that I've now won not just my first, but my first two games using the Albin Countergambit in actual tournament games. This is a rare achievement for me, and is a welcome distraction from the innumerable times I've been smashed by my opponents playing it. Righto, Imma get off my high knight now.
2. Two times Nine
Last night, went to Johnny T's 18th celebration. Had a fantastic night - for photos go see Ngiammy's blog which will then direct you to his Facebook. The food at Meat and Wine Co was great, Duncan's tweed jacket and Johnny's leather jacket were exceptionally stylish, William was extremely gracious despite me being a main reason he had to spend 45 minutes in the city alone without anything meaningful to do, and Josh, well he drove me home so let's just be happy I'm still alive, yes? Two things that annoyed me - firstly the woman who was responsible for the cringing of everyone who wanted to have a nice time walking around Darling Harbour because she just needed to prove to the world how much of an abusive arrogant twit she was over the microphone system and over various screens placed around the harbour, and secondly the fact that Josh Sprake drives with an Ipod between his legs - to each his own right?
1. Heads. Heads. Heads. Heads. Heads. Heads. Heads. Heads. Heads.
I am absolutely obsessed with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at the moment. One of my favourite plays, I watched the movie last night and it is absolutely amazing. Have I mentioned how much I like Tim Roth as an actor? He also stars on one of my favourite shows now, Lie to Me. Fantastic fantastic stuff. Oh yeah, I've also been following the World Cup. I support Germany and Argentina. Therefore I am very much looking forward to their Quarters Clash soon. Quarters Clash. That sounds like an awfully painful gambling game doesn't it? Hmm...
Well that's all from me at the moment. Yes, I'm back. At least for this one post. If you guys want more, let me know what you want more of.
Till next time, may you agglomerate all your unpremeditated contemplations.
